Philips HD7140/54 Coffee Maker – Love, love, love it!

Cant wait to give this as a present for the morning tea boy, shame it doesnt come with the mugs, quite hard to find some to fit.

This is a great machine: it does not take up much space like so many other machines and it is straight forward to use. I put mine next to my bed, with a timer attached. No more alarm clock required, my little coffee machine wakes me up with lovely coffee scent. All i need to remember is to fill the machine in the evening, and to reach over to grab the coffee mug in the morning, filled with beautiful coffeefriends of mine would like to get this philips coffee maker, too, but now you stopped producing it?.

As described though as noted by others there are no cups. Cups that fit are available at ikea for £0.

  • As described – makes tea too!

A little noisey when my husband is still asleep.

This the fourth philips coffee maker we have owned. Number three has just packed up after many years of service. We use ours for bedside morning coffee. The coffee maker is supplied without cups and, although the item description mentions that it is not supplied with cups, the illustration shows cups and this is confusing. Small to medium sized mugs are available from ikea and we also have some from a local craft market. Likewise there is no mention of the fact that no permanent filter is supplied. A supply of size 1 or 101 filter papers are required (unless the permanent filter from the last coffee maker has been kept). One point that this coffee maker scores over its rivals is that it turns itself off when the coffee is made.

I love my philips coffee (tea in my case) maker. I had used the philips machines by my bed for years and each one lasted for at least 5 years a couple of them, much more, but when the last one finally gave up i was unable to buy it again, so ended up with another make which only lasted a year. So, as you can imagine, i was delighted to see this one for sale as i do like to have a hot drink whilst i am still sitting in bed in the mornings, and this works perfectly. As i only have to make one cup, i simply set a normal sized mug on the drip tray so that both water dispensers are over the cup and viola. There you have one great mug of tea. My preference is to dip the tea bag in the hot water once it is in the mug as i take mine black and very weak but if you like it strong you can put a tea bag in the top where the coffee would normally go. If you still use loose tea, you will need to put coffee filters in there, of course.

The coffee maker is very good. However, it was not made clear that there was no permanent filter included. I had to go and buy special sized filters before i was able to use it. Before buying check that it has a filter. I am giving it 3 stars for that reason.

Does exactly what we wanted and produces 2 hot cups of coffee.

Works fine but was fed up there was no permanent filter with it. Even if a few paper filters had been included it would have helped.

Used this product twice then water did not come through. Rang tel no from instruction book for advice but having been given 4 different numbers and finally getting a reply was told they could not help. Would definitely not recommend this product.
