Oria Hand Coffee Grinder – Nice, with some flaws

I was a little worried to get this as it looked very fragile to use, i but needn’t have worried – appearances can be deceptive. This is a very sturdy grinder that will last years if used properly and cleaned according to the instructions. Not that it’s hard to clean, it’s just important to make sure that you ‘clean all the important little places’ as a well known advert used to tell us back in the 80s. The grinder is in three pieces; the bottom section which holds the ground coffee, the top section which holds the whole beans, and the crank which is self explanatory. The ceramic blades are extremely efficient at grinding and can be adjusted to produce fine or coarse grounds and anything in between. There is a window on the base so that you can see how much grounds you have which is very helpful until you’re good enough at guessing how much you need. I’ve tried both ends of the grinding extremes and have not had a problem with either. If you’re not too au fait with this process, i’d advise starting with coarse grounds as you can always grind them a bit more but you can’t ungrind them if they’re too fine. It depends on the method you use for brewing your coffee as well as your tastes. I never thought that a hand operated grinder would be better than an electric grinder but in my opinion, it is much better.

Ok, works well, but after 20 months of relatively light use (less than twice a month) the handle has come off, this seems like a weak point for what is essentially the only moving part.

This is the first coffee grinder i use. The good:it’s correctly proportioned – a full top half yields a full bottom half (using a coarse grind). It grinds coffee well and can be used effortlessly – and that’s the most important. It is easy to adjust, as advertised. The bad:both the box and tiny instruction leaflet are useless afterthoughts. Both contain spelling mistakes. The instruction leaflet references a diagram that is not there; instead, a generic product photo was included. As such, there are no usable assembly and disassembly instructions. I disassembled the grinder for washing and was left with a part that doesn’t seem to go anywhere. When washing, water will get inbetween the brushed steel piece and the transparent plastic inner piece of the bottom cup, and, because these can’t be separated, it won’t be easy to remove – the device has to be left in a warm place or out in the sun until it dries out.

  • It’s nice that the product fits inside the Aeropress
  • Oria Hand coffee grinder
  • I don’t mind the cheap construction so much, but

Very versatile grinder here. Takes a while to actually grind the beans but it grinds the beans very well and the aroma is amazing.

Product arrived in its own well presented box. Took the coffee grinder out to be presents with a shiny silver contraption. You can adjust the coarseness of the grind which is good. The only thingi would criticise is the handle just slots on and feels like it’s going to fly off, but it doesn’t.

Haven’t used it as it is a resent for my son but looks good.

I was sent this coffee grinder at no cost to me to try and produce and honest users review. The coffee grinder and detachable handle with instructions. The instructions were clear and straightforward, the box could be prettier if you want to give it as a present. The handle is anodised steel with a plastic handle to turn it with. It feels well made all round. Luckily we have a shop that sells a range of beans in the town where i live. I bought peaberry which i love. To use the grinder you take off the top and pour some beans in. Put the top back on and attach the handle and turn. The ground coffee appears in the bottom of the grinder and you can see how much you have done through a window.

As a coffee grinder it works well. The black handle piece is riveted to the arm and failed after a couple of weeks. Luckily a screw and a couple of nuts which i happened to have solved the problem.

Great value for the price and grinds very well and consistently, not in the same league as my household rocky grinder but great for traveling.

oria 30g coffee mill b01bdbttwea well built manual coffee bean grinder. The stainless steel marvel grinds up 30 grams of beans in pronto time. You can go for course for a drip pot or a fine powder for the pressure injector types of brewing devices. The flavor of fresh ground beans seems fuller, less bitter. It is a given you can see the beans themselves. So it is difficult to end up with a blend of nice beans and less qualified beans all blended together with some flavor agent sprayed on. ==–>product sample provided for fair review mdl#: asin: b01bdbttwe.

The coffee grinder comes in a basic box with bubble wrap insulation and a simple instruction piece of paper. The grinder itself is well made of brushed metal with a plastic lining in the bottom collection area. It has ceramic conical burrs. It has a simple top loading mechanicism with a crank to grind the coffee. The grind does not get that fine but just about fine enough for a stove top espresso machine i would say but this would be more suited to using more coarsely for a french press coffee. Overall not a bad design and is not too dissimiliar to hario slim grinder in terms of function however as it is more compact it is better suited to take with you if you travel.

It is a great grinder ,grinds to a fine grind or to what why you like it.

One of the cheaper options you might find, but i think the construction quality is reasonable for the price. I’ve been using 2-3 times a day for 6 months with no problems.

I bought this as it was much cheaper than similar items, not knowing what to expect. I’m delighted with its performance, and pleased i bought it.

I love coffee but have never got around to buying a grinder. When i see all the interesting varieties of coffee beans on sale, i’m always tempted to buy a grinder but wasn’t sure if i’d carry on using once the novelty wore off. This grinder was offered to me at a discount in return for a review so i was happy to accept. It came in a nice compact no-nonsense box, and although there is a full instruction leaflet included, it’s so simple to use, you don’t really need itit consists of a brushed-aluminium cylinder which twist open mid-way and also at the top. The beans go in at the top and then when ground fall through to the bottom half where there are two vertical windows where you can see them collecting. The handle comes separately in the box, looking like a crank handle with a black ridged wheel shaped nob at the end. Really easy to position onto the top of the grinder it can be removed again just as easily afterwards for storage again. Turning clockwise gives a fine ground and anti-clockwise produces a coarser ground. Have had so much fun this week trying out different flavours of coffee, i wish i’d got one of these years ago.

I don’t mind the cheap construction so much, but the burrs aren’t properly centered, which means it gives an uneven grind. Not enough to be a dealbreaker but still something that could be improved.

Works exactly as it should do and was a reasonable price compared to others.

Im not sure if the handle has been upgraded but it seems more than adequate for the job. Good grind and workout my windup skills at the same time.

Look – the black handle was always going to come off. Quality is just not good enough with a tiny little screw keeping it in place. However you can still use the grinder with just the metal part of the handle. You can actually grind even better if you improvise a handle using a chopstick or something. Anyway the handle was a bit frustrating but otherwise product works well and as described.

Considering it’s size, this is a great grinder. Its easy to use, and produces good size grinds for coffee. Its also very compact so it can be taken away to the caravan at weekends for fresh coffee anytime. I did find the top quite hard to remove, although maybe it will loosen in time and i found it a bit fiddly to put back together but i cant take away from performance. It does the job very well and is a very handy size grinder. Grinds can be very fine too. I’ll taking this on holiday for my coffee fix while i’m away.

Am glad that i got this coffee grinder, am the kind of person who loves strong coffee early in the morning and this grind has given me the power to have it my way. It takes less than a minute to grind the beans and you do not need to use excessive force in the process. The grinder arrived nicely boxed and undamaged and it has instructions to help you get started. I also love the fact that it is stainless steel and can grind enough coffee beans that would be suitable for 3 cups of coffee. Overally its just a great product.

Used this almost daily for last 3 months. Grinds well on a variety of settings. You need to make sure the handle is correctly positioned other wise it will slip off. No need to go too fast, just steady even turns work well. Happy with product and service, especially as guaranteed for one year from this seller.

Fast delivery and solid good quality product. My only issue is that it’s physically quite hard for someone not very strong to grind the beans, doing enough to make a 3 cup jug takes a good 5 minutes if not longer and is really hard on the wrists.

    1. 2.0 out of 5 stars Worn handle already
The handles is already worn and keeps falling off not good metal used to cause this.
  5. 2.0 out of 5 stars Poor design
Two stars as it does effectively grind, however its poor design makes it not worth the price – in my case the black handle fell off and cannot be reattached.
