Use it on moka pot occasionally.
Did not want to spend mega money on metal tampers with fancy wooden handles.
It’s not as glamorous as some, no shiny chrome etc. But we weren’t sure which size would fit and reading some reviews for other products saw that some people had had this issue so we thought we’d hedge our bets. As it is, the smaller size fits our illy francis francis machine and it does the job of tamping (if that’s the right word) extremely well so we’re pleased and would recommend.
Cheap cheerful and does what i want it to do. Don’t expect too much but it tamps coffee if you press on it. Might be slightly smaller than the diameter of my pot but even my 3 year old can get to the edges.
- Entry Level Coffee Tamper.
- Does the job well
- Much better than machine built in tamper
Double Sided Coffee Tamper (48mm/57mm)
Does it’s job well and good value.
My machine has an integral tamper which involves pressing the coffee ‘up’ at the side of the machine but i really prefer this little low-cost version which allows the coffee to be tamped ‘down’ then inserted into coffee maker.
This is not some flimsy plastic, it’s very sturdy and hard. The smaller side is more suitable for flat tamping as the other side is not quite flat. If function is more important than looks to you, you will not be disappointed.
It’s a tiny bit small for my espresso machine’s capsule, but its working just fine.
I wanted a 49mm tamper at very low price and this was as close as i could get. As coffee tampers go this is very much entry level but unfortunately there is so little choice at this end of the market. I don’t know the standard for measuring tamp diameters but when i measure the diameter of the small end of mine with callipers, instead of 48mm it is actually 49. 7mm (interestingly the larger end is 56. Luckily the small end still fits my rok portafilter quite nicely and i can get much better results than the rok supplied one anyway. The smaller tamp end is thicker in section (4. 7mm at edge) and the edges quite straight forming a right-angle to the tamp surface which is reasonably flat. The larger diameter end is thiner (3. 2mm at edge) with a totally different edge profile which is a rounded fillet. The tamp surface here is noticably less flat, i guess how it cooled from the mould rather than by design. Overall the plastic is thick enough for the task and does not feel brittle and i don’t think it would break easily in use or if dropped on a hard floor. Its not heavy weighing in at just 33g. The plastic has a slight matt finish and if you tilt it just right you see there are visible injection moulding lines, it is not an elegant looking thing not something to admire for sure. I think if you are used to using a posh version with a nice handle and metal piston end then you will hate holding and tamping with this.
Decent quality plastic, and suitable for different ranges of portafilter size. Ok, you could spend over a hundred quid on a posh barista’s tamper, but this does the job perfectly well enough. I would certainly recommend buying this first, before deciding whether you need anything that looks more professional.
It’s a cheap coffee tamper that tamps coffee adequately.
As described and prompt delivery.
It does what it says on the tin. A simple and useful coffee damper. Made from strong plastic it will last a long time .
What do you say about a coffee tamper, it tamps coffee and it does that very well. The item arrived quickly in the post and i am very pleased with it.
Very happy with this tamper, does the job and that’s all i wanted, first time i have owed a fracino and didn’t know what i needed so building up to what i need.
Good quality, excellent for my espresso machine and makes life easier and not as messy. Good value and quality a must for serious coffee drinkers.
Nice little plastic thing, makes your life easier when preparing your coffies everyday and coffee tastes better. Would recommend to everyone.
I myself work for caffe nero and got myself a decent machine for home use. This does the job for me thanks. Oh and the delivery was super fast.
Get this for your coffee, great value for money. Easy to use and works with my expresso maker.
Bought as an improvement to using the built in tamper on my machine which requires upward pressure. This one is much easier to use & results in a better coffee tamp.
This is sturdier than previous tampers and does the job perfectly.
It came quickly, its good quality but hey, it’s used to press down coffee, it’s ain’t a ps4 sadly.
