Bought this kettle to match the toaster we had previously bought. Also there was a good saving. However there are a few items i am not too happy about. The kettle is noisy when boiling,2. When lifting the lid to fill the kettle condensed water from previous use tends to run down onto the handle and very close to the on/off switch. When filling the kettle it is difficult to see how much water has been put in as the gauge is obscured by your hand and therefore i tend to put in more water than needed.
The last one of this exact type eventually failed, after a few years’ use, but i couldn’t find a better one to replace it. It has a major advantage in that you can re-prime it for a brief final blast if it has turned itself off after boiling, and you’ve let it stand for half a minute (e. Whilst putting a tea bag into a cup). It will also boil small quantities, offering savings over kettles that don’t work well on limited water volume. The kettle is nicely balanced, and looks smart, even after considerable use. I would score it a 5 were it not for the fact that the last one had failed. Our previous german model (a rowenta) lasted over ten years and was still running, and was only dumped because it has started to look very old fashioned and rather discoloured, proving that it is possible to make very durable kettles.
This is the third one of these kettles i have purchased over the past five years. It’s relatively lightweight and easy to fill which suits my wife who suffers with rheumatoid arthritis. The kettle gets constant use throughout the day and although the two previous models were still working after 2 1/2 years i decided on both occasions it was time for a replacement even though they get cleaned regularly in a solution of vinegar and lemon juice. My only gripe is the water level indictor is not very clear – hence a four star rather than a five star rating.
Bosch TWK6031 Cordless Jug Kettle White : The stainless steel filter is useful as we live in a hard water area. Every few weeks we would boil the kettle, pour in some vinegar, pop the filter in the mixture, and leave for a few hours for the limescale to disintegrate. Worked a treat for the first 18 months. Then suddenly stopped working. Will have to replace with a kettle that lasts a bit longer.
Lasted 18 months a little of a let down light was the first to go then started to come apart expect better from bosch.
The button to open the spout to fill with water and the on/off switch on the handle should be the opposite way around. Ergonomically this doesn’t work, i’m forever pressing the wrong button to fill the kettle.
Having all appliances in our kitchen being bosch, and no probs in 6yrs it was obvious that our choice would be another bosch kettle. The first was 3yrs old and had started to leak, excellent price, i have seen them for nearly £20 more.
I already have one of these kettles and i bought it as a present. It’s fast and you have to look for the red light to show it’s on as it’s so quiet. Excellent – like all bosch products.
We’ve had the black version of this kettle for about 5 years and used it a lot every day. Recently, it has begun to complain. So, a new one was called for. This time, for a change, we chose the cream and grey version. In use, it seems quicker than the earlier version we have. It also seems more stable on the base. No leaky bits or odd behaviour – yet. Whatever, in time it’ll likely be as boringly useful as its predecessor.
I purchased this kettle[asin:b000gcfoi0 bosch twk6031 cordless jug kettle whitein august 2011, and love its design, the kettle itself and its efficiency. I would highly recommend this purchase, especially it being made of hard plastic inside as opposed to metal and me living in a hard-water area, certainly helps with less furring inside the kettle. Highly recommend it, and it is reasonably priced as well, good value for money. ]
Stylish matches my bespoke modern kitchen. Stylish matches my bespoke modern kitchen. Stylish matches my bespoke modern kitchen.
Lid does drip water down body of kettle when opened unless you leave it open a small amount before fully opening it. It is difficult to see the level of the water in the level indicators. These are the only two gripes i have; otherwise it is a kettle as expected.
I have had this kettle for just over a year, given its a bosch product, whose products i have used and recommended very hight over the years. Sadly its on/off switch gave out just after the 1 year warranty ran out, was gutted. Usage very good, quality excellent, but sadly parts guarantee ran out when something went wrong.
Quick to boil, light to hold, comfortable handle, nice looking; shape and colour – overall no negatives and good value for money. Have also the matching toaster which make a nice set.
Our previous cordless kettle worked ok but was very noisy and i got fed up with my husband moaning about the noise whenever it was used. Looked at previous reviews for this model where people had indicated that it was a lot quieter. Goodness knows what kettles they had been using because i think it is quite noisy. Ok, marginally better than the old kettle but only just. Apart from that, it boils quite quickly but the water level is not very easy to see through the indicator window and the minimum level is much more than a mug full of water. It’s an ok kettle but i wouldn’t rave about it hence no more than 3 stars.
Over time i’ve bought quite a lot of bosch products, starting with a jigsaw 20 years ago (made in switzerland) that is a pleasure to use and feels as though it will last forever. However the last 3 products i’ve bought from bosch (cordless strimmer, cordless drill, and this kettle) – made in the far east – have all broken down after fairly short use. Their customer services have been less than helpful, and i am unlikely to ever buy another product from bosch. This kettle is actually well-designed and good to use, but the on-off switch in the handle started sticking early on. This fault righted itself but then the switch stuck again in use and there was a strong smell of electrical burning. As the kettle is made of plastic an electrical fault could possibly have led to a fire.
I love this kettle, not the first one i have had and will not be the last as long as it is produced. Boils real well and pours beautifully.
Bought as a replacement for a similar kettle that had given many years of service.
Loved the look, which is why we purchased it, but the spout design is not practical as it leaks when pouring and the water can also escape via the lid, which made it unsafe.
Before this kettle we had a morphy richards i think,it had lights and sound. It broke i took it back and got another one. Again the lights went out but the sound kept going. Eventually it leaked and the lid wouldn’t open, this all within 18months. So we moved on to a cheap one we had in the cupboard left over from the kids uni days. It took two days to boil so we chose this one. It hasn’t got any lights or sound and it boils quickly and fingers crossed it doesn’t leek. I like the handle it’s easy to pick up and the lid is substantial and the on/off button is not easy to accidently switch on.How many times does that happen when the on/off button is at the base of the handle.
